A FORCE FAR BEYOND

THE STORY

Earth, and it's species of beings, had advanced to become a developed society with many scientific and technological achievements to include advanced military technology -- but, as advanced and powerful as humans were with their perceived achievements -- the planet was ill-prepared for an invasion by an alien species hell bent on conquering Earth for their own selfish reasons.

They were a military juggernaut and society of beings with innate animalistic instincts; they had conquered many, it was their way of life.  Commanders in their ranks believed them to be unbeatable,.

They had never met another species capable of stopping them militarily.  The conquest to take Earth, to bring humans into the fold, to enslave them as conscripts of the Mookian Empire, was the beginning of a campaign that would have devastating consequences for humans -- unless the benevolent ones, another alien species, decided to intervene, to warn Earth of the impending attack and prevent the Mookians from achieving a successful invasion.

The decision to intervene was approved by the Quora, the Supreme Council of Naar, but was the decision made in time?  Could the planned onslaught of attacks by the Mookian military have been prevented?  Was Earth's leadership too complacent and distrustul of the advanced warning of the impending attack to do anything about it?  If humans were to survive, to achieve self-preservation, would it be the result of assistance from a force far beyond?

EXCERPT

"President Baxter has authorized Professor Lloyd to formally request our assistance.  What he is asking is for us to supply a large quantity of tents to house his homeless citizens.  Professor Lloyd will make the request to the Quora when we are finished, but I have another agenda item for consider.  It comes as the result of Yanni attending a joint meeting with President Baxter,  He has informed me that the president feels helplessly constrained because he has no means to communicate with other world leaders.  Yanni has suggested that we offer them a satellite telecommunications network--a limited communications capability for use only by world leaders as it would be too expensive and time consuming to give this service to every citizen, but certainly to those who are in a leadership position. Doing so would allow us, in the future, to monitor their activity without having a presence there.  I support this concept because I feel a need to have the rest of our forces brought back and not remain in orbit around Earth to monitor their activities or be on guard against another attack by the Mookians, who fled rather hastily I might add."

The general was optimistic the supreme leader would agree, as he did, that giving humans a means to communicate would be worth the expense and an intelligent thing to do.  He assumed her approval and expected a positive response to his question.

"Do I put this before the Quora to get their input and approval before Professor Lloyd makes the offer to President Baxter?"

"This, it seems, will be a situation where the money spent would enhance our intelligence gathering operations and serve to restore our force protection here at home.  I think the Quora will support the proposal.  Go ahead and put it before them."

An aide stepped in and announced the arrival of Yanni with Professor Lloyd.

"You do plan to attend the session with him, don't you, General Hanna?  Give me an update afterwards."

"Yes, I will, later today, if that's alright," the general said getting up to leave.

"That will be fine."

Professor Lloyd was waiting in the anteroom with Yanni when the general walked in.

"It's good to see you again, Brad," he said using the professor's familiar first name.

"Same here, General Hanna.  Yanni has been a tremendous help and we appreciate everything you are doing to help improve our situation."

"One never knows when a reiprocal favor might be needed.  Are you ready?"

Synopsis: On August 7, 1941 British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and President Franklin D. Roosevelt conducted a secret meeting aboard the USS Augusta off the coast of Newfoundland. It was there that Churchill endeavored to convince Roosevelt to enter the war in support of England. On the following day, a Sunday, Roosevelt transferred to the HMS Prince of Wales to meet again with Churchill. They sat through a church service on the fantail along with their staffs and nearly the entire ship’s company. Churchill chose the hymns for the service, which included “Onward Christian Soldiers.” Later Churchill explained. “I felt,” he said, “that this was no vain presumption, but that we had the right to feel that we were serving a cause for the sake of which a trumpet has sounded from on high. When I looked upon that densely packed congregation of fighting men it swept across me that here was the only hope, but also the sure hope, that we had the right to feel that we were serving a cause for the sake of which a trumpet has sounded from on high.” They did reach consensus on a statement which was later released and became known as the Atlantic Charter—the impetus behind the later created United Nations. The United States entered the World War II a few months later after the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. It’s now seventy-five years later. 

President Baxter, the leader of the free world, has requested to meet with Prime Minister Geoff Clavington and Russian President Alexander Medvedev at Placenta Bay under cover of a reenactment of the famous Atlantic Charter meeting. He traveled there aboard the USS Iowa with a strike force that included several other U.S. warships. It was August 7, 2016. The reenactment cover was necessary to discuss security concerns the magnitude of which the free world had never before faced—threats from high on—from outer space. The United States had intelligence indicating an impeding attack on Earth by an alien force with intentions to conquer Earth and enslave all mankind. The leaders soon learned of another alien force with its military sights focused on Earth. Competing forces from outer space were about to make their move and Earth’s disparate military commands were unprepared. From that meeting another important statement emerged—a joint agreement by President Baxter, Prime Minister Clavington, and President Medvedev regarding the establishment of Earth’s Defense Operation Command. Weeks later Earth was under attack and sorely prepared for the devastation that followed.
